(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Jaime Pressly will not spend time in jail for driving while intoxicated.

The 34-year-old actress and star of US comedy My Name Is Earl was charged with two counts of Driving Under the Influence (DUI) after being stopped in January of this year.

Jaime struck a deal with prosecutors to lighten her sentence. In exchange for dropping the first count, Jaime pleaded "no contest" to the second DUI charge. This allows Jaime to avoid incarceration, as she could have been jailed for up to six months.

Jaime was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol in California. Laws in the state set the legal blood alcohol level at .08. While driving recklessly, Jaime was pulled over by police officers and was asked to perform a breathalyser test. Jaime's blood alcohol level scored .22, which is nearly three times the state's legal limit.

As part of her deal with prosecutors, Jaime must attend a six-month alcohol education programme and is on probation for three years. (C) Cover Media
