(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Jake Gyllenhaal was advised to repeat the mantra I am not Justin Timberlake while he was shooting his new movie Love & Other Drugs.
Jakes co-star Oliver Platt has revealed he urged the Hollywood hunk to regularly chant the phrase to himself in order to get into the role. Both Jake and Oliver insist it is not an insult to the successful singer-and-actor, rather it should be taken as a compliment.
It was a little joke between us on the set, there's no scandal," Oliver told the New York Post.
The pair attended a screening of Love & Other Drugs on Tuesday night and Oliver wasted no time in reminding Jake of his words of advice. After they had watched the movie, he approached Jake and whispered the mantra into his ear, before lifting up his arms and shouting it to his friends at Rouge Tomate restaurant in New York.
While some onlookers believed Oliver was poking fun at singers who try their hand at acting, Jake and Oliver are adamant it is a reminder that they are not as talented as other stars.
"Oli and Jake are huge Justin Timberlake fans, especially from the SNL videos he does, a representative for the pair said. Oliver just met him at The Social Network premiere. The joke is that he can sell millions of records, sing, dance and do everything. He meant Jake is a really good actor, but he's no Justin Timberlake." (C) Cover Media
