(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Jake Gyllenhaal and Taylor Swift have ended their brief romance, it has been reported.

The Hollywood heartthrob began dating the country music star in October and the pair were seen on a string of dates. However, it has been claimed Jake and Taylor spent Christmas apart after they split sometime in December. No reason has been given for the break up, but they are believed to have parted on good terms.

"They're over," a source told People magazine. "It ended last month."

Jake and Taylor spent Thanksgiving weekend together and they were last seen in public with each other on December 9. Both stars enjoyed birthdays in December, Taylor turned 21 on the 13th, while Jake was 30 on the 19th, but celebrated their specials days without each other.

During their short-lived relationship, Jake is believed to have splashed out on a series of expensive gifts for the singer. It was even rumoured the pair were considering moving in together and had meet each others parents.

It has been reported that while Jake initially pursued Taylor, he felt the romance was moving too quickly and he struggled being part of such a high-profile relationship. He is believed to have ended the liaison after he failed to persuade Taylor to slow things down.

Jake reached out to her and started all of this, but now hes not acting as interested, a source told Us Weekly. He said he wasn't feeling it anymore and was uncomfortable with all the attention they got. He also said he could feel the age difference. Taylor is really upset. We told her not to move so fast with this but she didn't listen.
