January Jones: I live like a vagabond

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - January Jones says the only downside of being an actress is living like a kind of vagabond.

The 33-year-old American actress shot to international fame playing bored housewife Betty Draper in hit US show Mad Men. She will also star in this years eagerly anticipated action movie X-Men: First Class, playing mutant Emma Frost.

January grew up in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, although she moved to Los Angeles 11 years ago to pursue her career. The actress admits her home is often empty though, as the film-star lifestyle requires plenty of travel. Work commitments have permitted January to spend time living in cities ranging from New Orleans to Berlin, although when she films Mad Men she at least gets to go home.

"I haven't been here the last two years, with the exception of four months in the summer for Mad Men," she explained.

"That's the only thing I struggle with with the success of the job is that I've had to be kind of a vagabond."

The beauty had to travel to London, England, last summer for her role in movie X-Men: First Class, and she says having her creature comforts is fundamental. January refuses to go anywhere without plenty of reading material, as well as her baby blanket and creams and bath things.

When January is at home, she admits to getting rather nervous about burglars because she lives alone. The star says being in the public eye is somewhat of a reassurance, because she at least knows there are always photographers outside her home.

"I live alone, and I feel like they're always there, they're always watching. If someone were to come in and rob me there's photographers. It's like the best security system ever, she told USA Today.

"Maybe I'm that pathetic at this point," she laughed. "But it's a constant presence." (C) Cover Media
