(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Jason Bateman has recalled having a "belly full of booze" and embarrassing himself in front of Dave Grohl.

The 42-year-old actor is a huge fan of rock band the Foo Fighters, which Dave famously fronts, and so couldn't believe his luck when he encountered the star on a night out.

The pair share the same birth date, January 14 1969, so Jason decided it would be the ideal opportunity to share the coincidence with his hero with cringe worthy consequences.

"Oh I got a little over served one night, had a belly full of booze, and I slid into Dave Grohl's banquette over there at Trader Vic's," blushed Jason when asked if he has ever done something embarrassing in front of a person he admires.

"I just thought Dave would be fascinated with the fact that he and I share a birthday - same year too - so we're exactly the same age. So I just went ahead and took 45 minutes to tell him that...I felt bad about myself."

Jason can't believe he took so long to tell Dave about their birthdays while under the influence of alcohol. However, the rocker took the incident well and the pair have since become pals.

"He and I - we've had a couple sessions since," smiled Jason, when discussing the ordeal with MTV. (C) Cover Media
