Jennifer Lawrence couldn't understand why her friends dieted at school but enjoyed eating all their burgers.
The actress recalled her teenage years when she was the only girl who ate bread.
She said she was "so sick of these young girls with diets" and would never alter her eating habits to stay in shape.
"I remember when I was 13 and it was cool to pretend to have an eating disorder because there were rumours that Lindsay Lohan and Nicole Richie were anorexic," she told Seventeen magazine.
"I thought it was crazy. I went home and told my mum, Nobody's eating bread I just had to finish everyone's burgers.'"
The 21-year-old stars as Katniss Everdeen in the film adaption of The Hunger Games. She said her two male co-stars Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth, who play Peeta and Gale respectively, are like her "brothers".
"They are hilarious and sweet," she said.
"As soon as we all got together, we reverted back to being 13-year-olds. Josh and I were neighbours. Every time I would come in late, I would go and bang on the door and wake him up and we'd all hang out."
The Hunger Games, which is based on the book of the same name, will be released worldwide later this month.
