Jenny McCarthy has been finding dating life difficult since splitting from Jim Carrey last year.

The blonde beauty ended her relationship with the actor in April 2010 after five years together.

Jenny, 39, admitted to Hollyscoop that she is currently single but it is mainly because the men on the West Coast are just not her type.

The single mother said that she is just looking for a "nice guy" which she claims is hard to come by in the area where she lives.

"I mean, I don't know. It's so hard out here in L.A.," the former Playboy Playmate revealed. "The guys are like chicks out here. There are no real guy guys, so maybe importing from somewhere will be smart. Anyone not from L.A. I think."

Jenny dated Jason Toohey on and off after splitting from Jim and they were last seen together in September.

The actress has been investing a lot of her time in her other career as an author and is just about to release her ninth book.

"I'm always really real and raw in my books and this one I'm almost too much, like I'm afraid for my mom to read it," she dished.

"It's called Sinner, so it goes through the chronological events of my youth until now of all the not so good things that I've gone through. But it's funny, it still kind of fits with the theme of the other books."
