J.J. Abrams: I constantly feel inspired

10th June 2011

(Cover) - EN Movies - J.J. Abrams loves incorporating themes into movies that "mean so much" to him.

The director is gearing up for the release of his sci-fi thriller movie Super 8 starring Elle Fanning and Kyle Chandler.

The movie follows a group of friends in the summer of 1979 who begin noticing strange happenings in their small town and decide to investigate the goings on.

J.J says although the idea was spawned from his imagination and it is not an adaptation as such, he always likes to draw on other inspiration.

"There are always a bunch of ideas floating around and I try to do the best I can to not do them. The ideas don't go away. The thing with Super 8 is that although it's an original story and an original idea it owes so much to what the film is inspired by at that time," he told cinema blend. "It's a fun way of gripping on to themes that matter to me so much. If it works for people it feels like a sister movie to those films that exist back then."

The filmmaker is best known for his 2009 sci-blockbuster Star Trek, which was a box office hit. J.J is currently working on the reboot of the popular movie. Despite a release date of summer 2012 already been announced, a script has not yet been finished for the sequel. J.J. says he wants it to be worth the wait.

"I would love to do a number of different things, and obviously the next thing we're working on is the next Star Trek," he said. "I care much more that it be good than ready." (C) Cover Media
