Jr. Bachchan walks out of Abbas-Mustan's next

7th June 2013

Abhishek Bachchan, who was last seen in filmmaker Abbas-Mustan's film 'Players', was in the news when he signed for the director duo's next Hindi remake of the Tamil blockbuster 'Vettai'. While Abhishek was to play the character of the older brother, Abbas-Mustan had roped in John Abraham to play the younger sibling in the project.

The movie was initially expected to go on floors early this year, but given the delay with finalizing the script and the shoot locations, the movie was pushed out to start around mid this year.

Based on sources close to the production, Abhishek apparently, opted to walk out of the project. The actor expressed his courtesy by sharing the news with the director duo in person, and based on insiders, although it ended on a sour note for the directors, they were apparently convinced with Abhishek's reasoning on his lack of availability given his tight schedule.

Although there has not been much news on the actor signing new projects outside of 'Dhoom 3' which is currently in production, and 'Dostana 2' which is slated for next year, there is news that Mani Ratnam has approached the actor with his project, and outside of that, Abhishek is also keen on working with Umesh Shukla.

While Abbas-Mustan and his team are busy with short-listing another actor in place of Abhishek, we would have loved to see the 'Dostana' jodi again prior to the sequel, which is only going to happen next year.
