Kalki Koechlin's recent release 'Happy Ending' is in theatres right now, but the chirpy actress is returning to her favourite kind of cinema, dealing with serious subject.
Titled as 'Mantra' the film takes us back in 90's when liberalization took place in India. Rajat Kapoor plays an industrialist, whose life takes an unexpected turn post liberalization. Kalki will be seen playing his daughter.
Rajat said, "My character runs a successful business till international players become competitors. Its effect on my family is symbolic of the transition India was going through at that time. Between the late 90s and early 2000s, the face of the country changed completely."
The two had shared a stage in the past for the play 'Hamlet The Clown Prince'.
