Kangana turns mother for her next

22nd March 2014

Only when you think actress Kangana Ranaut couldn't get better with her experiments after her last film 'Queen', bang she comes with another surprise.

Yes, the actress is at her experimental best yet again as she recently confirmed that she has signed Sujoy Ghosh's next, 'Durga Rani Singh'

However, the surprise is not the film, but her role in it.

The 26-year-old actress plays a 35-year-old woman who is a mother of a 14-year-old kid.

In an age when even senior actresses hesitate to play a mother onscreen, it comes as a huge surprise that she has decided to play a mother while still being at the peak of her career. She plays the mother of a paralytic girl.

When asked about her role Kangana says, "I am 26, and I will be playing 35. It's a very different character. Besides, I have never played a mother on screen. I'm playing mom to a 14-year-old, paralytic girl," she said.

She also added that playing the character won't be easy and she will have to do a lot of research on the same.

"I will have to get the character right. For that, I have to work on my body language and look older. I will have to go through ageing in terms of looks and use prosthetics. I have to get the psychology right to play the mother of a paralytic daughter as well", said Kangana.

The actress is also excited to be a part of Sujoy's team as she now wants to concentrate on plot-oriented films.

"Sujoy isn't melodramatic. He makes very good thrillers. I want to move away from only character driven films, such as Tanu Weds Manu and Queen, and explore movies that are plot-driven", she added.
