Keira Knightley freaked out' by burglary

16th November 2011

Keira Knightley has begged loved ones not to give her jewellery as she's terrified of having it stolen.

The actress' home was broken into several years ago. Many of her belongings were taken, including rings, necklaces and bracelets. Several of the pieces had significant sentimental value and Keira can't face going through that again.

"Everything was taken and I kind of freaked out. It was horrible so I asked everybody not to give me any jewellery to replace it because it means an awful lot," she explained.

The star now only wears jewels she has borrowed from fashion houses.

Although Keira will talk about her experiences, she has stopped fully opening up about her private life.

It's known she's been in a relationship with The Klaxons musician James Righton, but she's content keeping details of their romance private.

"It's far too personal," she told British newspaper The Daily Mirror. "It's important to surround yourself with people you love and love you back that's the whole point of life. This is a job like any other and you have to make time for friends and family. I keep in touch with them as much as possible.

"Yes, I was different when I started to now you change with your experiences. It would be sad if you didn't, but my level of fame is not as big as Brad Pitt's, thankfully."

The 26-year-old had a tough time after appearing in the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie. Photographers were constantly trying to take pictures of her, so she rarely left her house.

Things have since improved and she is much happier.

The star lives in London, in an apartment she bought five years ago. She has no plans to relocate to Los Angeles for her career, as she doesn't think she could handle life there.

"I've never been tempted to live in Los AngelesBut I had a great time in LA over the summer when I was doing a film there Seeking a Friend for the End of the World," she added. "It was the first time the place made any sense to me partly because I just accepted that it's nothing like London. Once you accept that you can see how it can be exciting. I like visiting it but I couldn't live there."
