Keira Knightley says her "temperamental" nature means she can go "quite deep" with relationships.

The actress has been has been dating James Righton since February of last year. The star has explained what kind of partner she is.

"I'm an artistic type; I'm temperamental, so does that mean I can go quite deep? Yes, of course it does," she told Interview magazine.

"But I've never been married, so that's a whole different level."

Keira has played many emotionally complex roles, including Sabina Spielrein in A Dangerous Method.

The 27-year-old star has rebuffed claims she draws on her own life experience for such parts instead she tries to understand her characters.

"I'm not a Method actress. Yet you can always draw parallels of what people tell you," she revealed. "Empathy is the main thing, putting yourself in somebody else's shoes and trying not to judge. A little bit of personal experience is sprinkled in there, but mostly it's imagination."

Keira has discussed whether people separate her acting from her celebrity. The beauty who was spanked in a famous scene in A Dangerous Method finds it funny when people fail to distinguish between the two.

"I think I'd be quite surprised if they could. I know with A Dangerous Method people liked the spanking an awful lot. But I'm not quite sure. It's weird, though, with the spanking," she explained.

"When we were in Venice, I didn't get asked about it once. But in England, it was pretty much the only thing I got asked about. I'm not quite sure what that says about the English."
