'Kempe Gowda' awards biased?

21st April 2011
On the 500th birth anniversary of the founder of Bengaluru – Kempe Gowda – the 'Kempe Gowda Award' was bestowed upon the producer of the Kannada film 'Kempe Gowda' Shankare Gowda, by the cinema world.

As a matter of fact, the contribution of producer Shankare Gowda is nothing compared to various other personalities. His political clout is what got him the award. For the audio release of the Kannada film 'Kempe Gowda', he had invited the Home and Transport Minister and Raju Gowda, a political personality who is connected to his family.

The Gandhinagar hub of film activity is not happy with the selection of Shankare Gowda. There are a few others who have got the 'Kempe Gowda' award.

National award winning actress Thara, character artist Lohitashva and TV and cinema actors such as Sunil Puranik, Kunigal Nagabhushan, Sarigama Viji, Nagaraja Kote, MS Ramesh and a couple of others too got the award.

The Government of Karnataka has announced 257 names in the first list for the 'Kempe Gowda' award. It might increase by the felicitation time.
