(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Kim Kardashian's engagement ring may have been a piece of jewellery she already owned, it is being claimed.

The 31-year-old reality got engaged back in May with what was said to be a 20.5 carat, $2 million ring from jeweller Lorraine Schwartz.

But her former publicist Jonathan Jaxson alleges that it isn't true and the ring presented to her by her estranged husband Kris Humphries was one that already belonged to her.

"She said the ring was a gift to herself," Jonathan told RadarOnline.

"On December 26 2007, Kim wanted to stage a paparazzi moment acting like she got engaged because she was with Reggie Bush at the time, so I did a set up with her with the same ring."

Jonathan claims that Kim went to jeweller XIV in Beverly Hills with the ring in her purse and then walked out of the store with the ring on her wedding finger after the photographers had been tipped off.

"The ring was something she was very proud of and was so excited to show it off," Jonathan revealed.

"Low and behold the ring is the same ring that she allegedly got from Kris and had to be shipped via a Brinks truck, as played out on their show this year."

Jonathan is in the middle of shopping around a tell-all book to publishers which lifts the lid on the Kardashian family titled, Don't You Know Who I Am Yet?

It has not been confirmed if the rings are the same but they have very similar styles.

Meanwhile, Kim has been spotted on the set of her new movie The Marriage Counselor in Atlanta looking not very happy.

"She's being very quiet and isn't smiling very much," a source on set told Us Weekly. "Kim has been reading a script and not being very social at all." (C) Cover Media
