(Cover) - EN Star Style - Kylie Minogue admits there were a few coronaries when she was calculating the cost of her lavish tour outfits.
The 42-year-old star embarked on her latest series of shows, Aphrodite Les Folies, over the weekend.
Kylie says the tour is her most ambitious yet and she has worked with Dolce & Gabbana to design a series of show-stopping outfits. The extravagant clothes have put an enormous strain on the concert budget, but Kylie is determined to look her best when she appears on stage.
This is my chicest ever tour. The outfits look incredibly luxurious and expensive basically because they are! Kylie laughed in an interview with Grazia. There were a few coronaries over the cost, but Ive been touring for 20 years and I want this to be the most fantastic show ever. The aim of the game is to create magic and this is what were all trying to do.
Kylie was thrilled to work with Dolce & Gabbana, praising them for their attention to detail and ability to create stunning outfits which allow her to complete her complex dance moves and sing live. The star insists everything she wears during her concerts must be comfortable, but sexy, and it has been a laborious process finalising the garments.
There are several reasons, she replied when asked why she decided to work with Dolce & Gabbana. Obviously, I think they are genius designers. They know me because weve worked together for years, and that makes the whole process fun.
What is amazing about Domenico and Stefano is you walk into their atelier and it just becomes this fantasy world where anything is possible. What I have to do is try on a dress, pull my moves and see if it works. An outfit can look show-stopping, but it is going to be something I wear 100 times on stage and it has to let me breathe.
Kylie went on to reveal she has had to drop some of the more extravagant outfits from the tour because they would have restricted her performance. She doesnt want fashion to get in the way of thrilling her fans when they come to see her shows, so she has been forced to ditch several pieces.
Theres a nude dress with a corset underneath covered in beads that is incredibly heavy and a multicoloured dress thats beautiful but I couldnt bend in it properly, so we either have to change it or discount it, she added. This is the process, but its not so much about a gorgeous dress its about working a gorgeous dress. (C) Cover Media
