Lady Gaga feels "so proud" to have been honoured at the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) Awards over the weekend.

The songstress won the outstanding music artist prize for her album Born This Way at the Los Angeles ceremony, which promotes positive images of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people in the media.

Gaga is famed for her involvement with humanitarian causes and LGBT activism, and took to her Twitter page to gush about her recent accolade.

"I'm so proud to win 'Outstanding Artist' for Born This Way album at GLAAD Media Awards. Thank you so much to your organization (sic)," she wrote.

The 25-year-old superstar tweeted her support for parity amongst people regardless of their sexual orientation.

"Lets remind the world that the zeitgeist continues to beckon for equality+change. The relevancy of freedom, the ying yang of hatred+love (sic)," she added.

Gaga also took to the social networking site to gush about her dedicated fans, who she has dubbed her "little monsters".

The eccentric singer has thanked them for their continued support which impacts all aspects of her life.

"Went cycling yesterday+when it got harder someone said imagine the most important thing is at the top of the mountain. I saw little monsters (sic)," she gushed.
