Late actress Sridevi honoured with the Best actress award

Legendary Bollywood actress and the queen of smile Sridevi, who passed away on February 24 this year was felicitated with the Best Actress award at the 65th National Film Awards for her film 'Mom'. Helmed by Ravi Udyawar Mom featured Akshaye Khanna and Nawazuddin Siddiqui opposite to Sridevi who plays Mom who takes revenge on spoiled brats who raped her daughter.

The actress was also honoured at the In Memoriam section at the Oscars 2018. Sridevi made way again in Bollywood after a 15 years long gap with Gauri Shinde's 2012 film 'English Vinglish' which was acclaimed and applauded. The actress is famous for her work in films like Lamhe, Chandni, Sadma and Chaalbaaz which had shined the sparkling actress out of her.

Sridevi's daughter Janhvi Kapoor who is set to make a debut alongside Ishan Khatter in Dhadak along with sister Khushi and father Boney Kapoor sent an open letter to thank the jury.

The letter read ''We are overjoyed to know that the Jury has conferred the Best Actor Award to Sridevi for her performance in ‘MOM’. It’s a very special moment for all of us. She was always a perfectionist and it showed in all the 300 plus films she did. She was not just a Super Actor but a Super Wife and a Super Mom. Its time to celebrate her life and her achievements. She is not with us today but her legacy will always live on. We thank the Government of India, the Hon’ble Jury Members for this honour. We also take this opportunity to thank all our friends, her fans who have been sending us congratulatory messages. Thank you, Janhvi, Khushi & Boney Kapoor.''
