(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Lauren Conrad and Derek Hough went on a date over the weekend despite her claims she is single.

The former star of The Hills told E! News that she is a single woman when she attended a polo match in California on Sunday.

But just hours later she was seen partying with Derek in Hollywood and the pair left together at the end of the night.

"[I'm] single, having fun," Lauren told the entertainment site earlier in the day.

However, the twosome were seen outside the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel talking to friends.

Although there were no major signs of affection, the pair did hold hands as they left together and got into a white Mercedes being driven by Derek.

"They are cute together," a source close to the couple said.

Lauren and Derek have been seen out together several times over the past few weeks.

Derek, 26, has also denied they are dating saying that he hated to "disappoint" when asked last week if he was in a relationship with Lauren.

The reality star split from ex-boyfriend Kyle Howard back in June and is said to be ready for a new relationship.

"It hasn't been easy moving on, but Derek has been sweet," a friend said. "They are having fun and seeing where it goes."

Derek was recently linked to former X Factor judge Cheryl Cole. (C) Cover Media
