Leslie Nielsen dies

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Leslie Nielsen has passed away at the age of 84.

The Hollywood actor was celebrated for his comic skills and made a name for himself in hit films such as The Naked Gun and Airplane during a career spanning six decades.

Leslie died yesterday afternoon at a hospital near his home in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, reportedly due to complications as a result of pneumonia.

According to ET Online the star was surrounded by his loved ones. He is survived by fourth wife Barbaree Earl, who he married in 2001. He also leaves behind two daughters; Maura and Thea Nielsen, from his second wife Alisande Ullman.

"We are saddened by the passing of beloved actor Leslie Nielsen, probably best remembered as Lt. Frank Drebin in The Naked Gun series of pictures, but who enjoyed a more than 60 year career in motion pictures and television, his family told ET Online in a statement.

Leslie had appeared in more than 100 films, and will be remembered by his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. It has been reported that his family are requesting charity donations to be made in his name rather than flowers. (C) Cover Media
