(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Liam Neeson considers himself to be a pioneer for British actors in Hollywood.
The 58-year-old actor from Northern Ireland has enjoyed a varied Hollywood career, starring in everything from dramas to comedy, as well as achieving an action hero status thanks to parts in 2008 hit Taken and latest movie Unknown.
Liam is aware of the current crop of British actors such as Christian Bale, Andrew Garfield and Henry Cavill landing major roles in America, and feels they should be grateful to him for flying the flag for British talent back in the 80s. He hasnt taken all the credit though, and has also cited some of his British actor pals as being fellow revolutionaries.
Myself, Gabriel Byrne, Gary Oldman paved the way in the 1980s, thats why. We were pioneers and Im saying that totally truthfully...Theres a couple of others, he told Omelete when asked why British actors are succeeding in Hollywood.
Liam has been enjoying taking on more action-type roles lately, and feels proud of his muscular physique. The actor is approaching 60, but still feels young and athletic.
I dont see myself as an action star. Ive done Taken, Ive done [Unknown] and hopefully were gonna do a Taken 2 in my 60th year - which is a long way off, he teased. But its nice. I like being physical, its good to be able to flex those muscles, do a bit of physical stuff. (C) Cover Media
