Lady Gaga: I cant be a housewife

16th February 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Lady Gaga knew she would never be a career girl or a good wife.

The American singer is considered to have revolutionised the music industry with her unique blend of electro pop and controversial music promos, as well as becoming a major fashion icon thanks to her boundary-pushing outfits.

The star says she always knew she would be different, and could never envisage herself as a housewife or office worker, even though she came from a background where woman followed that path.

My destiny was to be a smart career girl whod become a good wife. But I knew I couldnt live like that, she told the British edition of OK! magazine.

The 24-year-old songstress admits partying in New Yorks underground club scene taught her a fair amount about the wild lifestyle. She explains how becoming the bohemian she is today involved challenging previous notions and concepts which had been instilled in her.

By 15, I was out in New York clubbing and I fell in love with a different way of life. A year later I was on stage performing filthy, dirty metal numbers. I learnt to be outrageous! I wanted to get noticed so Id set my hair on fire and wear hardly any clothes, she explained.

I pushed myself to every limit because to me it was all about art. I learnt to reject everything Id ever known and it was so liberating. I wasnt making any money and I was working eight jobs to pay my rent but I was living how I wanted. I was becoming free. (C) Cover Media
