Lindsay Lohan admits British misunderstanding

24th May 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Lindsay Lohan has recalled an embarrassing moment when she mistook British politeness for nosiness.

The 24-year-old actress shot to fame as a child star, with roles in movies such as 1998 comedy The Parent Trap, and Lindsay spent time in the UK when filming the picture.

The star remembers how British people would always seem to be enquiring about her health, and it began to get irritating as time went on, until she finally realised what they were trying to say.

"When I first came to London to shoot The Parent Trap, when I was 11, people would always say: Are you well?' And over the years they kept saying it to me. I was like: For the last time, I'm f**king fine. Are you?' I was so offended!" she laughed.

"But they were just being polite. It's a British expression but I didn't know that!"

Lindsay has famously endured a difficult time of late, having spent time in rehab as well as being accused of stealing a necklace and recently obtaining a restraining order against an alleged stalker. The star admits she does find it hard to trust people now, but tries to see the positive in everyone. She also claims she is happier than she has ever been.

"I will always give someone the benefit of the doubt. It took me a while to recognise what was going on around me, growing up. There are a lot of people who were draining me as a person and as an entertainer. It's unfortunate. People come and people go. But I feel better now. I laugh more than I ever have," she told the British edition of OK! magazine. (C) Cover Media
