Lindsay Lohan headed for in-patient rehab?

27th September 2010

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Lindsay Lohan is to enter a live-in rehab facility outside Los Angeles after telling friends she is desperate to sort out her life.

The troubled star was taken into custody on Friday when Judge Elden Fox denied Lindsay bail after she failed two random court-ordered drug tests. However, following an appeal from Lindsays legal team a judge later threw out the original ruling and the star walked free from the Lynwood Correctional Facility later that night.

She has been ordered to wear a SCRAM alcohol-monitoring bracelet and avoid visiting places where alcohol is the chief item of sale.

Over the weekend there were reports Lindsay was considering getting professional help for her problems, and she is now said to have agreed to enter a program this week. She may event start treatment later today.

Sources with direct and specific knowledge of the situation say Lindsay will enter a live-in facility outside of Los Angeles within days, reports website TMZ. Lindsay is now agonisingly aware she has an addiction problem and also acknowledges the reality - addicts often backslide before they get better.

The 24-year-old has reportedly told friends shes prepared to do whatever she has to in order to get well. She apparently doesn't want this type of life anymore and knows she needs help.

Lindsays acceptance of her problem is being seen as a huge step by those around her as she has previously always denied having addiction problems.

Earlier this year, the star spent 13 days in jail and 23 days in rehab after she violated the terms of her 2007 conviction for Driving Under the Influence (DUI). Upon leaving rehab she had to submit to a number of rules including random drug tests, but failed two. She is believed to have tested positive for cocaine and Adderall, a drug taken for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

It has been claimed Lindsay may be placed under conservatorship as she battles her problems. This would see another person put in charge of her personal and professional life, as is the case with Britney Spears.

Under the California Welfare and Institute Code for Mental Disorders and Chronic Alcoholism, the courts may determine Lindsay unfit to care for herself even though she is an adult, former California prosecutor, Robin Sax, told FOX News Pop Tarts. This would be subject to another court hearing separate to the criminal case, and could be determined from a mental health evaluation made when and if she returns to rehab.

Conservatorship would only be put in place if it was found that Lindsay could no longer care for herself. Her father Michael Lohan, who she has a difficult relationship with, has previously said he wants the legislation to be issued.

Lindsay appeared in public yesterday, when she visited Los Angeles Dream Center, which aims to help people who are struggling to survive in the city. She met some families there, and took time to sign autographs and hand out gifts.

What a great place The Dream Center is here in LA... had a nice time there today, it's so important to give back. I feel blessed, she wrote on Twitter. (C) Cover Media
