(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Madonna has wryly forgiven Sir Elton John for calling her a "fairground stripper".

The two iconic musicians have a famously tumultuous relationship, but Madonna decided to call an end to the feud during a concert in France this week.

Elton recently said Madonna "looks like a fairground stripper", adding: "She's such a nightmare ... Her tour has been a disaster."

However on stage at a show in Nice on Tuesday Madonna called a truce.

The singer dedicated her song Masterpiece to Elton.

"I know he's a big fan of it. And I know he's a big fan of mine. And you know? I forgive him. Gotta start somewhere," she told the crowds, according to TMZ.

However, Madonna's olive branch may have been insincere.

Masterpiece is the track that triumphed over Elton's Hello Hello for Best Original Song at the Golden Globes earlier this year.

Elton's husband David Furnish famously took to his social networking page to criticise Madonna.

"Madonna winning Best Original Song truly shows how these awards have nothing to do with merit. Her acceptance speech was embarrassing in it's narcissism. And her criticism of Gaga shows how desperate she really is (sic)," he wrote on his Facebook page. (C) Cover Media
