(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Mark Wahlberg says he stopped taking drugs to protect his children.

The film star has a well-documented troubled past - having spoken of his regret for often violent and unruly behaviour in his earlier years.

And Mark admits that he used to smoke a lot of Marijuana, although he doesnt take the substance anymore because his kids thought it made him smell.

"One day, we were driving and you could smell it from somewhere. My daughter asked what the smell was so I told her it was a skunk (sic), E! Online reports him saying at an awards ceremony.

Then she said, 'Sometimes Daddy smells like that!' to me and my wife. So I knew I had quit.

The Max Payne star, 39, confirmed that he doesnt use those anymore when referring to bongs, which he said his award looked like.

Mark got married to model Rhea Durham in 2009, claiming a delay in the ceremony was down to his fears over divorce. They have four children seven-year-old Ella Rae, four-year-old Michael Robert, two-year-old Brendan Joseph and Grace Margaret, who is one. (C) Cover Media
