Michael Caine: Moore made Scoundrels shoot fun

22nd July 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Sir Michael Caine loved making Dirty Rotten Scoundrels because he got to spend two months living near Sir Roger Moore.

The two men are good friends and always have a good time when they are together. Michael was thrilled to learn the 1988 movie would be shot close to Roger's home in the South of France, and had two of the best months of his life making it.

"Dirty Rotten Scoundrels [is my favourite], it's a comedy that makes me laugh when I see it. It's my favourite film to watch and be in. I said, Where are we going to shoot this movie?' before we started, they said, We've got a villa for you in the south of France.' I checked where the villa was and it was between my two best friends Roger Moore and a composer called Leslie Bricusse and I had two months in the South of France making this movie which was the biggest laugh and it's my favourite. I have other movies which I'm very proud of, but for fun it's Dirty Rotten Scoundrels."

Michael's latest outing on the big screen is in Cars 2, an animated movie where he voices the character of British secret agent automobile Finn McMissile.

The 78-year-old explained his grandchildren were a big reason he decided to get involved with the franchise. He has two and he knew they'd enjoy watching the picture.

"I'm the happiest soul you'll ever come across because every decade of my life has been correct for what I needed then. Now I'm a grandfather, which is why I made this movie Cars 2, and I'm an absolutely soppy grandfather. Also I never had a son, I had two daughters, and now I've got a grandson and I've not only got a grandson I've got a grandson that looks like me. So he's my son as well as my grandson. He speaks better than I do." (C) Cover Media
