Mitch Winehouse: Goodnight, my angel'a

26th July 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Amy Winehouse's father Mitch has said "goodnight" to his daughter before her funeral ended today.

The service for the 27-year-old British singer was held in the UK this afternoon after she died at her home in London on Saturday.

In keeping with the Jewish faith, Amy's body was released to her parents Mitch and Janis Winehouse so the funeral could take place as soon as possible after her death.

Hundreds of people paid their last respects to the troubled songstress at the Edgwarebury Cemetery in North London today.

A private service took place, which was held for the star's closest family and friends, and was a deeply personal one.

Amy's father Mitch, who flew back from New York after being informed of the tragic news, read a eulogy at the service which ended with the words "Goodnight, my angel, sleep tight. Mummy and Daddy love you ever so much."

Family and friends sang her favourite song during the touching remembrance, according to British newspaper The Mirror.

Amy's close friend Kelly Osbourne attended the service and paid tribute to the late singer by wearing her blonde hair in a beehive. Mark Ronson who worked closely with Amy on her award-winning Back to Black album was also present, while it's thought Ronnie Wood also attended.

A post-mortem yesterday failed to determine the cause of death and police must now wait several weeks for the toxicology results to come through.

An inquest into her death was opened yesterday and adjourned until October 26. The star's family reportedly believes she died of a heart attack or a seizure. (C) Cover Media
