Actor Karthik Kumar turns to business by converting his theatre group Evam into an entrepreneurial venture. Evam will now have three wings, a theatre group, an event management wing and a school. An art school is also in the offing.

"Theatre entrepreneurship models should be constantly placed before youngsters to attract them towards taking to theatre as a profession" said Karthik.

Karthik appeared in Tamil films like 'Yaaradi Nee Mohini', 'Poi Solla Porom' and 'Veppam'. He set his heart on acting in his school days at Vidya Mandir and started working with various drama troupes including the Madras Players. 

"I tried my hand at several things including working as an assistant director, back stage and actor. I concentrated on English and French plays. Already there were a bunch of artistes who were staging plays. But they were largely experimental and most of them were staged just five times. The audience were mostly old" he further said.
