(Cover) - EN Star Style - Nicki Minaj wanted to look like someone from Shakespeares time in her new promo, so ditched a high-fashion look.

The American singer premiered the promo for her track Moment 4 Life yesterday, and debuted a completely new look in it. She chose to wear a huge blue gown, later swapping it for a corset with a train, and has discussed what inspired her outfit choices.

I wanted to take a step away from, like, high fashion or, like, [a] hip-hop, sporty type of look and into just, like, real flowy and just to play dress-up," she said. "I was envisioning a Shakespeare time, and I figured, 'What would they wear?' I felt like the first outfit kinda looked like, almost like you're in Egypt somewhere back in the day, like a long time ago.

Nickis alter ego Martha also makes an appearance in the promo. On her debut album Pink Friday, Nicki introduced the character of Roman Zolanski, who she calls her twin character. She adopts Romans persona when she is angry, and Martha is Romans mother.

Nicki appears as Martha in the video, wearing a frilly dress which is pink and has wings. She also boasts pale-coloured hair which was teased into a fantastic up do, which Nicki was thrilled with.

Of course, you know, Martha she has the wings, and I saw her with white hair. To me she just seemed like she would be an old little English lady, probably with a cane, and so we just needed to give her white hair," she told MTV News. "But she's super, like, posh." (C) Cover Media
