Olivia Wilde thinks people need to focus on things which are "truly scandalous" and not Kim Kardashian's divorce.

Olivia's marriage split from Tao Ruspoli was finalised in September and she's still coming to terms with the end of their union.

Kim filed for divorce from Kris Humphries in October after 72 days of marriage. The move has been criticised by many who insist she didn't give their relationship a chance, but that's not how Olivia sees things.

"Kim took a risk. No one should be attacking her. Our attention should be focused on things that are truly scandalous," she said.

The actress feels a connection with Kim because they have both been going through hard times lately. She wants people to understand how difficult the process of divorce is, especially as others often comment on those who have taken the decision to officially part ways.

"I empathise. It's not easy. It's the hardest thing in the world. People judge you because divorce is seen as failure," she told New York Post.

Olivia, 27, married Tao on a disused school bus when she was 19. They announced they were no longer together in February, with the actress citing irreconcilable differences in the March divorce petition.
