Orlando Bloom: I like a challenge

18th March 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Orlando Bloom is always drawn to movie roles which terrify him.

The British star has appeared in a number of big-budget movies, including the first three Pirates of the Caribbean films, and says theres always certain things he looks for before agreeing to a role. He likes to be challenged on set and enjoys being fearful while shooting.

Its really if the script is good and the character is good and the people involved are interesting, he said. Anything that terrifies me Im really up for.

I just finished The Three Musketeers. That was great, it was a lot of fun. I got to play the Duke of Buckingham and it was so much fun. I saw him as a big, overgrown petulant child.

Orlando and his wife Miranda Kerr welcome son Flynn into the world on January 6 and the star is loving every second of being a father. He is trying to spend as much time as possible with the tot so they bond, and cant believe how much becoming a dad has changed him.

Ive been bathing with him a lot recently, its been really cute. Its a really nice little moment, he said during an interview with TV show Lorraine.

[Being a father] is great, I love it. Its mad because as a woman you carry the baby for nine months so youre very conscious that you have a little one inside you. But for a guy its like suddenly theres a baby there, and what? But hes amazing, hes great.

Fatherhoods fantastic, thats the big role.

Orlando and Miranda have a lot of support from their families, with his mother Sonia always on hand to help. She has just written her second childrens book about insects and Orlando thinks shes going to be the perfect grandma.

She was always funny with little animals [when I was young]. I always had a pet rat or a dog or a cat. She was always walking around with an insect on her, Look darling! and shell have a really peculiar stick insect of some sort on her, he laughed. She is going to be the coolest grandma.
