Penlope Cruz moved by music

21st May 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Penlope Cruz thinks music can have a more direct impact on people than movies.

The 37-year-old actress has enjoyed a hugely successful Hollywood career, and in 2009 impressed fans with her talent for musical theatre in the hit movie Nine, which also starred Marion Cotillard, Fergie, Kate Hudson and Nicole Kidman.

Penlope enjoys exercising her vocal chords, and thinks a song can leave much more of an impression on someone than a piece of cinema.

"Yeah, I listen to all types of music, because music, as much as I love movies, is for me. It is still the most powerful art and the one that just goes directly to your heart," she gushed in an interview with the British edition of OK! magazine.

The star appreciates the way a piece of music requires less intellectual analysis. She was thrilled to be involved in Nine because it gave her a chance to express her love for the art form.

"It doesn't have to go through the filter of your mind, it just goes there. I'm a very big fan of music, that's why it was so huge for me to be a part of a musical," she explained. (C) Cover Media
