Pharrell Williams will serve as a music consultant for the 84th Annual Academy Awards.
The Grammy Award-winning producer and musician will join Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer to oversee the music for the prestigious film awards ceremony.
The star-studded Oscars will be produced by Brian Grazer and Don Mischer, who are both thrilled to have the pair on board.
"Hans is one of the most accomplished and creative film composers of our time, and Pharrell is a phenomenal songwriter with an amazing list of credits," they revealed in a statement.
"This is an exciting and prestigious collaboration that promises to take the audience on a musical journey."
Neither Pharrell nor Hans have worked on the show before, although both have some impressive music credits.
Hans won an Academy Award for The Lion King and has been nominated eight additional times.
Pharrell has written songs for a number of films including Despicable Me, Knocked Up and Rush Hour 2.
The 84th Annual Academy Awards is set to air on February 26. It will take place at the Kodak Theater at the Hollywood & Highland Center in Los Angeles.
Meanwhile, Andie MacDowell's daughter Rainey Qualley has been named Miss Golden Globe 2012. The 21-year-old star was selected by The Hollywood Foreign Press Association to assist in the Golden Globes Awards show.
Rainey is thrilled with the honour.
"I would like to thank the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for giving me this wonderful opportunity to serve as Miss Golden Globe 2012," she said. "I'm really looking forward to being a part of this year's awards presentation."
Rainey follows in the footsteps of Melanie Griffith and Rumer Willis. The honouree is typically a child of a celebrity.
The Golden Globes Awards ceremony is slated to take place on January 15.
