(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Legendary American comedian Phyllis Diller has passed away at the age of 95.
TMZ reports that the beloved comic perished at her home in Los Angeles surrounded by loved ones.
Elderly Phyllis suffered a fall recently in which she injured her wrist and hip. Since the incident her health was rumoured to be rapidly on the decline.
Until her death Phyllis had been receiving hospice care in her home.
Phyllis began working in Hollywood in the early 1950s and shot to fame performing alongside Bob Hope in their 1960s TV specials.
The star appeared in a number of hit programmes including The Phyllis Diller Show, The Beautiful Phyllis Diller Show and Laugh In.
In a recent interview on Watch What Happens Live, Phyllis' protg Joan Rivers spoke about the star's legacy.
"[Phyllis] broke the way for every woman comedian," Joan said.
Phyllis is survived by three of her six children, her two daughters Sally and Suzanne and her 62-year-old son Perry. (C) Cover Media
