(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Rapper Pitbull thinks Lindsay Lohan's lawsuit against him is a "joke".
Lindsay filed papers against Pitbull last week for lyrics mentioning her name in his hit single Give Me Everything. Claiming that the words "I got it locked up like Lindsay Lohan" could damage her career, Lindsay wants the song to be removed from the air. Pitbull was shocked by the litigation.
"I was very surprised when I found out about the lawsuit... at first I read it and I thought, 'This has got to be a joke,'" Pitbull explained in an interview on his official fansite.
When crafting the controversial lyrics, Pitbull was not aware that they could be potentially harmful to Lindsay's career. He thought the lines were more beneficial than detrimental.
"For me mentioning [these lyrics]... on the number one record in the world... I thought it would be helping someone's career and keeping them relevant," Pitbull stated.
The rapper feels his work offers an extension of support to struggling Lindsay. He never intended for his track to cast aspersions on the actress.
"In no way shape or form would I wanna bring that on anyone... I didn't look to defamate [sic], degrade or hurt someone's career," Pitbull said.
Pitbull's song Give Me Everything reached number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 pop charts this summer. Co-writers of the track Ne-Yo and Afrojack are also defendants in this lawsuit. (C) Cover Media
