Nothing new, still attractive...
When it is a film starring Sunil, a seasoned comedian turned main stream actor, what else can we expect than a comedy entertainer which makes us to laugh, by forgetting other things, especially logic? Poola Rangadu is exactly that.
Aptly following the syntax, director Veerabhadram has dished out Poola Rangadu, which is inspired by the 2005 Malayalam hit Pandippada. This movie is a good break for Sunil, who is suffering from the dismal show of KSD Applaraju.
The story is simple and old, which might even remind you of Maryada Ramanna, which is Sunil's maiden venture as a protagonist. Sample the following paragraphs to trust us.
Ranga (Sunil) buys a land near Warangal, only to know that the property is under a dispute between landlords and factionists Konda Reddy (Dev Gil) and Lala Goud (Pradeep Rawat).
Though Ranga wants to sell off the land, he is unable to do so, courtesy Konda Reddy and Lala Goud. Following this, his friend (Ali) suggests Ranga to befriend Anitha (Isha Chawla), Lala Goud’s daughter.
While doing so, Ranga falls in love with Anitha. He now lands up in fresh trouble, earning the wrath of her father. Is he successful in selling the land and marrying his ladylove?
Sunil is in super form, tickling our funny bone scene after scene. His dialogue delivery and body language deserves a special mention. Isha Chawla looks fine as a glam doll. Ali provides some lighter moments, while Dev Gill and Pradeep Rawat are good picks.
Anup Ruebens has apparently understood the story well and come out with fitting music. Cinematography by Prasad Murella is neat. Other technical departments are okay.
Director Veerabhadram, heavily relying on a comical script and Sunil's screen presence, seems to have forgotten to infuse some fresh things in the script. Despite that, the film works to a maximum extent, and that's the power of humour.
