January 14, 2011 (Sampurn Wire): Having waited for a very long time, Prakash Raj has finally decided to release his long-awaited production Payanam on February 4. The bilingual film starring Nagarjuna and Prakash Raj in lead roles was supposed to hit screens for Diwali 2010, but remained inside cans due to lots of continuous releases in both Tamil and Telugu. Now as the makers have found February to be the favorable time, they have decided to get it released by the first week.
Titled as Gaganam in Telugu, the bilingual movie is directed by Radha Mohan. This is the first time, the director is making an action-thriller as his previous films were patently rom-com entertainers.
The film revolves around a domestic flight between Mumbai-Chennai being hijacked by terrorists and they force the pilot for emergency landing at Tirupathi airport. Government now appoints a proficient commando (Nagarjuna) to save the hijacked victims and a senior bureaucrat (played by Prakash Raj) to negotiate with terrorists.
The highlighting traits about the film is that Nagarjuna will have not have any pairs and his usual romance factors will be missing here. Radha Mohan assures that though its an edge-seated action thriller, there will be some situational comedies that will tickle the funny bones.
