Actor Prashanth, is a multi-faceted personality but couldn't make it big in the film industry. The actor got a great opening in his second innings with Shankar's 'Jeans', followed by some hits. But again, it turned out to be a mere disappointment for the actor on both personal and professional fronts. Now, his father Thyagarajan has made it a point of elevating his standard and is directing him in a couple of movies. One, being the remake of his own yesteryear movie 'Mambattiyan' and the other, a period film 'Ponnar Shankar' both of which are soon to hit screens. 'Ponnar Shankar' features him in dual roles as twin brothers and their war against the British rule. Chief Minister Kalaignar M. Karunanidhi has penned the story, screenplay and dialogues for the movie.
