Wednesday was a memorable day for children affected by Cystinosis, for they had an opportunity to pose with superstar Rajinikanth, at the launch of Cystinosis Chapter of India in Chennai.

Rajinikanth was a surprise visitor to the event, as his name was not printed on the invitation card. The Organisers thanked him for turning up, as his presence would go a long way in creating awareness on the disorder.

Clad in a white shirt and blue jeans, Rajini spent some time with the children.

Cystinosis is characterised by abnormal accumulation of the amino acid cystine in various organs of the body such as the kidney, eye, muscle, pancreas, and the brain. The disease is inherited when each parent with cystinosis carries one defective gene and one normal gene.
