(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Rebecca Hall is relieved she didnt have to master a Boston accent for new movie The Town.
The actress was born in England but had to speak with an American twang for the crime drama. Her character, Claire Keesey, is a bank manager who is taken hostage during a robbery. Rebecca relished the challenging role and was glad her character had a different tone to the rest of the cast.
I managed to side step the Boston accent, she said in an interview with The BBC. In the novel and in the script my character was always written as an outsider, someone different, someone who went to live in Charlestown. So it was important that I didnt have a Boston accent, but an American accent.
The film also stars Ben Affleck who directed the movie along with Jeremy Renner, Jon Hamm and Pete Postlethwaite. Even though the cast was mainly dominated by men, Rebecca felt comfortable and formed a close bond with her co-stars.
There arent a lot of women in this film, thats true, she laughed. But I faired alright it was OK!
The 28-year-old actress was then asked to compare Ben and Woody Allen, who she worked with on 2008s Vicky Cristina Barcelona.
Rebecca refused to dissect their directing styles, insisting it is always a diverse experience whenever she begins work on a new movie.
Well one is a lot taller, she laughed when asked to compare Ben and Woody. Its a very, very difficult thing to compare and contrast directors. I think every film job or theatre job, they have different styles and they have different scripts and the cast is different.
But I will say at the end of it all that a good director is a good director and Woody Allen and Ben Affleck are both good directors. (C) Cover Media
