The trailer of Ranbir Kapoor's upcoming film 'Roy' has left everyone awestruck.

Ranbir, who on a majority has till date done only lovable characters, has gone for a complete image makeover in this one.

The character is dark, edgy and completely different from what he has done so far.

He plays a conman in the movie that has been directed by his school mate cum friend Vikramjit Singh.

The filmmaker exclaims that he wanted to show Ranbir differently and he is glad that he made this decision to do the film.

"Till now, Ranbir has had a lover boy image, with boyish charm, so when I briefed him about this role, he was surprised. He asked me whether it will work and I asked him to just keep faith. I am glad he took it up. I feel this is going to be his best performance till date," he said.

He also revealed that to get the nuances right, he asked Ranbir to keep Matt Damon's performance in 'Goodwill Hunting', as a reference point.
