Robbie Williams keen on Tudor mansion

8th September 2010

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Robbie Williams and his new wife are set to splash out on a £5 million mansion in the English countryside.

Robbie and Ayda Field tied the knot at the singer's Beverly Hills mansion last month and are now thinking about starting a family together. British-born Robbie would love to raise his kids in his home country and has fallen in love with a Tudor stately home called Brenchley Manor in a leafy village in Kent. The 15th century estate boasts six bedrooms and there are also two other cottages on the grounds.

The 36-year-old has already visited the property twice and has set his heart on buying it.

Robbie and a friend are said to have enjoyed a drink at the local pub after viewing the house, sending the locals into a frenzy.

"He asked the barmaid about the area," a source told British newspaper The Sun. "It's the talk of the village."

Robbie's interest in a property in the English countryside has sparked surprise because he sold his £8.5 million home in Wiltshire last year after he and Ayda decided they couldn't face another cold winter in the UK.

The couple were forced to slash the price of the estate - which had its own helicopter hangar, temples and fountains - to ensure a quick sale and Robbie admitted it had been an "impulse buy" when he returned to England after five years in the US. (C) Cover Media
