Rosie Huntington-Whiteley: I'm not an actress

26th May 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Rosie Huntington-Whiteley doesn't care if people are sceptical about her role in the new Transformers movie, as she's "never claimed" to be an actress.

The 24-year-old shot to fame as a model but has now landed the role of Carly Miller in Transformers: Dark of the Moon. Carly is Shia LaBeouf's character Sam Witwicky's love interest and Rosie joined the movie following the departure of Megan Fox. Megan had a public spat with director Michael Bay after criticising some choices made while shooting the previous films, and Rosie understands some fans think she was drafted in at the last minute.

"I realise what people think. But that can't affect my life or my choices," she told the July issue of UK magazine Elle. "I haven't claimed to be an amazing actress. I want to work, that's all. I want to pay my bills and make my family proud. I've got on criteria apart from that."

When she found out she had the role, Rosie went for dinner with Shia to discuss it. He didn't "paint a pretty picture" about what was required, but she's adamant she will do a good job.

The star thinks part of the problem is some people don't like women who are determined to succeed. That only spurs her on though, and she's looking forward to hearing what people think about the movie.

"The fact that ambition is often seen as a negative trait in women is just bulls**t. Yes, I am determined. You have to be if you want to continue working," she explained. "You can't just sit back and be lazy, or fall out of a club with your knickers around your ankles, or be seen to be doing naughty things. You have to be smart. You have to work for opportunities. It doesn't just hand itself to you."

Rosie has modelled for nine years, meaning she's always on the move. She rarely spends more than a week in one place, which takes its toll. She is currently dating actor Jason Statham but admits being apart is hard and is the one thing she still struggles to cope with.

That said, she's learned to live with it and insists there's no chance of it forcing her off the rails.

"I've never really been concerned about cracking under the pressure and turning to the dark side," she said. "I've never been a big boozer and I've never done drugs I'm always the person that needs to go to bed first." (C) Cover Media
