(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Russell Brand kept sabotaging his kissing scene with Alec Baldwin so they could lock lips again.

The pair star in the new movie Rock of Ages. Russell has joked that he has a huge crush on Alec and purposely ruined the smooch so they could re-shoot the sequence in the hope his co-star would fall for him.

"Alec Baldwin has been one of the great kisses of my life," he told UK TV show Daybreak. "To be honest, in the first few takes I deliberately made it go wrong just so I could kiss him more often. I would go, Oh sorry I was wearing a baseball cap in that scene,' or, Oh sorry I think I stumbled or opened my eyes.' They did take after take, kiss after kiss, and I thought, If I keep kissing that man, I can make him love me.'"

Tom Cruise also stars in the musical movie.

Russell was quick to offer the Hollywood legend a few wry tips on how to prolong his success in the industry.

"That plucky youngster, rough round the edges, but stars in his eyes, I say. I have said to him, If you ever need any advice on your career, come to me.'

"I would tell him, Take your top off more. Take your top off more and play the part of people who are sort of enthusiastic about something,'" Russell quipped.

Russell is hosting the MTV Movie Awards this weekend. He is known for his outrageous sense of humour, as is fellow British comic Ricky Gervais.

Russell would relish teaming up with Ricky for an awards ceremony.

"Ooh, alright," he replied, when asked if he would consider the collaboration. "There is always controversy when Ricky hosts an awards show, but when you watch it the things he is saying are very funny, so I would do anything with Ricky Gervais. If he just wanted to carry me around in a knapsack I would do it. I'm a great admirer of his." (C) Cover Media
