Russell Brand: Mirren made me a royalist

18th April 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Russell Brand says Dame Helen Mirren turned him into a royalist.

The British comedian-turned-actor stars alongside the Oscar-winning star in comedy film Arthur. Russell plays the playboy rascal title role, whilst Helen portrays his nanny Hobson.

The 35-year-old star says has the most respect for Helen, 65, and says her role as Queen Elizabeth II in 2006 film The Queen made him a supporter of the British monarchy.

I think we all made that mistake. I think we all became royalists because of Helen Mirren bringing sexiness to Her Majesty the Queen, he told The Kyle and Jackie O radio show. Now I have nothing but respect for all people of that age, but its Helen Mirren that brought that all important sexuality to Her Majesty. I think whoever she played youd find them sexy.

The British star who is famed for his eccentricity and former sex addiction says it would be inappropriate to apply the same appeal to the real Queen of England. He often thinks about what it would be like to date someone from the famous family though, and would consider romancing a royal if he was a Duke in the old days.

I think it would be inappropriate to apply the word sexy to Her Majesty the Queen of England. Its more that she seems perfectly pleasant! You dont think, Phwoar! Perhaps if it was the old days, if it was Elizabeth the First and I was the Duke of Essex or something or Walter Raleigh, returning with a spud in my pocket, he said.

Russell loved working alongside his British co-star as she was just as naughty on set as he was. The funnyman has joked the star made flirtatious passes at him whilst they were working together.

Shes really beautiful and fun with a slither of mischief present in the corner of her mouth. Not like a bit of discarded food, but I just mean the constant presence of naughtiness, he explained. She said Stop respecting me, while we were in bed together. Express yourself, use some of your famous moves. (C) Cover Media
