(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Ryan Reynolds has joked he's "dead inside" following tough questions about his recent divorce.

Ryan is currently promoting his new movie The Change-up with co-star and long-time friend Jason Bateman. Ryan and Jason were guests on American daytime television show The View on Thursday where host Barbara Walters asked probing questions. In response to an inquiry about whether or not the friends, who have known each other for more than 15 years, learned anything new about each other while filming, Jason provided an interesting response.

"This guy [Ryan], if you read the papers, he went through some tough stuff," said Jason to Barbara. "Not once did anybody have any sniff that anything was wrong."

Ryan did not offer up an explanation regarding the "tough stuff" he went through. When Barbara asked what the difficulties were, Jason quickly outlined what occurred.

"He went through a divorce while we were shooting," said Jason.

Ryan who split from Scarlett Johansson last year, with their union officially over in July - looked visibly uncomfortable with the line of questioning. After a brief stint of silence Ryan joked about why he kept his feelings so concealed.

"It's because I'm dead inside," laughed Ryan. "I'm not going to cry around you, Barbara."

The Change-up will be in theatres August 5. (C) Cover Media
