Ryan Seacrest unaware of Cohen prank

27th February 2012

Ryan Seacrest thought his interview with Sacha Baron Cohen was "going too normally" before he got pranked on the Oscars red carpet last night.

Sacha spilt the alleged ashes of North Korea's late Kim Jong-Il over Ryan after arriving at Sunday's 84th Annual Academy Awards in Los Angeles with an urn. The funnyman came as Admiral General Aladeen, the titular character of his upcoming picture The Dictator.

The controversial star didn't stray from his typical red carpet stunts, and ended up pouring "pancake batter" from his unusual accessory all over Ryan's Burberry tuxedo.

"I definitely did not know that he was going to do that!" Ryan said on On Air with Ryan Seacrest. "He comes over, and I asked him a couple of questions, but . . . You know that feeling in your gut.

"You feel like, 'This is going too normally.'"

Ryan suspected trouble too late to save his designer garb.

"[I] saw the urn coming up. It was getting closer to my chest, and then it tipped over, and it wasn't the wind. He spilt it on my tuxedo!" he exclaimed.

Ryan is thankful to his mother Connie however. The television host claims his back-up ensemble was the result of some wise words given to him.

"[Her advice is to] always make sure to bring two jackets, because you never know what's going to happen!" he laughed.

Sacha enjoyed a much-anticipated arrival following a rumoured ban from the awards ceremony.
