Salma Hayek says Benicio Del Toro was "famous" even at acting school, because he was so "hot".

The Hollywood actors star in Savages - a drama which follows two marijuana growers who face off against the Mexican drug cartel who kidnapped their girlfriend.

Salma and Benicio enjoyed working together as the dangerous cartel members in the film, but Salma admits she has always been in awe of the Puerto Rican star.

"We went to acting school together. Benicio was one generation above me. He was famous even in school. You know there's always two or three guys that are the stars and they're the hot guys of the school, Benicio was even one of them back then," she gushed in an interview with BBC Radio 1.

Salma has appeared in a variety of different movies, even singing in a couple. The stunning star tries to avoid sharing her voice with the world though.

"That's something I have no idea how I ended up doing. My mom is an opera singer and I said 'never'. I don't know how I ended up doing that. I don't think I sing well," she laughed before Benicio added: "You know what, I can't sing. I'm sure if my life depended on it I could fake it. I love Puerto Rican music. I was never good at dancing either."

Salma entered into the film industry after watching Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The 46-year-old star has explained what attracted her to the big screen.

"It was the fact that I was really young and I realised there was a place in the world where anything could happen. In that moment I understood I could go to the moon, you can turn a table into a monster. It was incredible," she gushed. "I remember understanding the limitless possibilities."
