Sandra Bullock amazed' by Oscar win

23rd December 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Sandra Bullock admits that her Academy Award triumph still hasn't "sunk in."

The actress won a best actress Oscar in January 2010 for her work in the 2009 drama The Blind Side.

During the time she received the honour, Sandra had adopted her baby son Louis.

Although Sandra acknowledges the importance of receiving the accolade, she admits the 24-month-old has blissfully occupied her thoughts since he joined the family.

"I don't think I had the moment to revel in it yet," Sandra told USA Today. "I think one day it will. It will probably come out when I have to prove myself to my son."

The night she accepted the award, all Sandra wanted to do was be with her son.

"I don't remember much of the night other than I wanted to get home to Louis and do his midnight feeding," Sandra recalled. "I was in that dress, I was tired, I took off my shoes and I got to hold this tiny little munchkin, who was maybe about seven pounds. I thought, 'Isn't life amazing? I have these two glorious elements in my life.' It was, 'Mr. Acid Reflux, meet Oscar.' I just remember sitting on the floor and I went, 'Right now, karmically, I did something right.' It all came together.'"

Soon after Sandra adopted Louis, it was revealed that her then-husband Jesse James had been unfaithful after five years of marriage. The pair have since divorced.

In lieu of her personal strife, Sandra took a break from filming.

She is content with the work she did on her private life in that timeframe.

"There was a lot of great material that I was able to see. But my heart just wasn't there. And I didn't want to mess up where I was," she explained.

"You go where life goes and where you want to go. I'm better at that."

Sandra's new film Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close will be released in US theatres this weekend. (C) Cover Media
